Often times in the networking marketing industry,  new distributors are led to believe that they must say “the right things” in order to build a successful organization and profit substantially.   Do you really believe this is true?   If you have been in this industry for any length of time, you have realized that networking marketing is largely a “numbers game”.  No matter how fantastic your particular opportunity may be, it will not be a good fit for every person in every situation.   Success in network marketing comes when you consistently connect with the kind of people who are looking for what you have to offer.   It has been said time and time again that you really can’t say the “wrong thing” to the “right person”.  I can tell you from years of experience that this is absolutely true.

So instead of focusing on what to say to a particular prospect, let’s take a look at some things that you should DO for prospects.

  • Show integrity: As a networker, you are a businessperson.  Since this is the case, you want to always demonstrate high character and honesty in your business.  If you say that you will do something, just do it, and do it when you say that you will (you will be surprised how this one simple thing will make you stand out from the crowd).  If you agree to send a prospect additional information about your opportunity at a certain day and time, make sure that you do.  If you agree to meet a prospect at an opportunity meeting at a certain day and time, make sure you do.  Not only will you build much better relationships with potential business partners, you will indirectly encourage your prospects and business partners to treat you the same way.  Showing others that their time is important will lead to your time being respected much more.
  • Be Enthusiastic: Enthusiasm is contagious.  I don’t know why it is, it just is.  If you are not continuously excited to be doing what you are doing, I would respectfully suggest that you start doing something that gets you excited.  When prospecting,  deliver your message with passion and enthusiasm.  How you talk about your opportunity is much more important than what you say about it.  There are so many people around that do not enjoy what they are doing, that the mere fact that you actually do enjoy what you are doing will probably get them asking questions, which is a great thing.
  • Be Consistent: Prospecting as a network marketer will ultimately have its ups and downs.  In the course of your prospecting, there will be times when it seems like everyone that you come across wants to know more about your opportunity.  There will also be times when lead after lead will be uninterested.  It’s these down times that cause many networkers to become frustrated and stop their prospecting efforts.  In actuality, it’s these downtimes that should throw your prospecting efforts into overdrive!!!   Consistent prospecting will lead to consistent results.  Set prospecting goals every month to target a certain amount of leads using various techniques.  Chasing your prospecting goals every month will keep your mind off of worrying about the responses of particular prospects.  It will also keep you in the mindset of doing activities that will cause your business to grow.  Trust me.  Set high goals and go after them.  It works.

Doing the right things in your business beats saying the right things every day of the week.  Developing the right habits and level of consistency will lead to massive results.   To get additional tips on how to consistently get quality leads to practically beg you to join your downline, check this out.  In the meantime,  like Spike Lee would say,  DO the right thing.  :-)
